Parramatta RiverVolunteers who are fluent in both English and another language will be trained to conduct nature tours in the Parramatta River area.

Up to 10 volunteers who can speak Mandarin/ Cantonese, Arabic or Korean as well as English will be trained. Volunteers will receive free accredited training in presenting tours to members of the community, starting in early August.

Once trained, the volunteers will be assisted to them to organise and promote their nature walks. These walks will be conducted in their own languages and will be designed to increase the community?s understanding of their local natural areas.

Project Progress - July 2009:  Advertising for bilingual volunteers began through various networks and interested persons were invited to complete application forms. Training is arranged to begin in August.
