SMCMA Project: Integrated Weed Management

Project Update:

12 July 2007
The
Weed Management Strategy for the Sydney Metropolitan CMA region 2007-2011 was recently released. The development of the strategy involved consultation and feedback from many local and state government officers, as well as representatives from the bush regeneration industry.

The intention is to build on the great work that has already been done and guide the coordination and allocation of resources across the catchment over the next 5 years.

The Sydney Weeds Committees and the SMCMA have commenced the implementation of some of the key actions in the strategy:
- prioritising weeds in the region
- collating baseline data and mapped information about the high priority weeds
- developing regional maps of the high priority weeds
- establishing a web based weed alert system
- developing a standard format for agency reporting on weed management.
